I could hang with ArkLATex, Plains States, Southern Plains and I guess South Central if we had to.

But West South Central's just one directional term too far for me. . . . .

See I've been confused since we moved over here from England 10 years ago...I'm never quite sure where Texas is...I've always assumed Southwest but then I used to subscribe to Sunset magazine and they always had southwest as starting at New Mexico...and southeast starting at Louisiana...so it got this little english gal confused...I like the 'up the middle' definition too :)

Isn't Texas it's own compass point? North, South, East, West & Texas???

LOL That's kind of what I was thinking too! Took me a minute to figure out which 'group' I belonged in. :)

(I'm in the Clear Lake area of Houston, TX)

    :lol01:

YES it is!! Some think Texas has always been directionally challenged, I say, we just don't have to do it like everyone else. Most towns have an East street (or one of the other 3), so of course you have a North part of East street and a South part of East street.

There is an area called West Texas, encompassing Big Spring, Odessa etc. Then there is the town of West, Texas, which is in Central, Texas  I am pretty sure the plan is to confuse all the foreigners til they get lost, give up, and go home. lol If you aren't confused enough at this point, and only a little lost, we'll do you in, when you stop to ask for directions. You'll either be told that you can't get there from here, or be given directions something like the following:

Go down the road a piece, and take a left at the big rock.
Follow that til the road curves left, then take a right
Take another right where the old fire house used to be, then a left where old Mrs. Markey got hit by a deer (in Texas you do not hit deer, they hit you)
Go up the hill, round the curve and when you see the old swimmin' hole, turn around you went too far. By now you should be able to see it just over yonder.
    Y'all come back now, y'hear

Since I was MIA, I just found this thread. I didn't know where I belonged either! Do we have a place on SA to set up or view local stamp-togethers?
