I need some advice. I've been thinking about the Movers & Shapers die, but have been hesitant to purchase it due to the cost, plus additional cost for all of the movable pieces. Here's my question  - do you have to use the Movers & Shapers die with the movable piece you want to die cut, or can you simply use the movable piece by itself? All I really want it for is to mat my punches - I'm really not interested in punching a window in a card front. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I usually just use the piece by itself. Someone posted the sandwich for that. I have to find it for you. It's not officially recommend, but it works fine.

Here's the video I used for the info on using them without the big piece:

I use the pieces alone more often than with the window. I didn't watch the video that yapha posted, but here's the sandwich I use:

Texturz Impressions pad (is that the name of the hard black one?)
    Cutting plate
    Die
    cardstock
    Cutting plate

Yep, that's basically the sandwich. It just helped me to watch the video.

Thanks so much - think I'll order the set in the catty with my next order and give 'em a try.

I've been wondering if we could do that! I thought cutting the card base out was a bit silly :)

Good use for all of my retiring 12x12. Cut a bunch of card bases with windows. Might make a good door prize for my next event. Or put a few with each customer order until I use them up.

I know it does work but I must warn you that I did read some place on the SU or Sizzex web site that this was not recommended. I think it causes too much pressure in the small individual piece.

    I had heard this, too.

The M&S dies also make some cute Z-fold cards. I'd have to really scan the gallery to find one. Let me see if there are any there.

Ok, I'm sold - I think I will get the whole thing. After watching the video Yapha provided a link to, it looked like it was hard to get just the die through - it worked better with the entire piece with the die placed where you wanted it. Thanks for everyone's help!
